 Green Built Home™, a green building initiative that
reviews and certifies homes that meet sustainable building and energy
standards, is a voluntary program of Wisconsin Environmental Initiative
and is sponsored by participating home builder associations in cooperation
with leading utilities, organizations that promote green building and
energy efficiency, and the State of Wisconsin.
Green Built Home encourages green building
practices that are more energy and resources efficient than traditional
building practices. Building green in a comprehensive and cost effective
manner means taking the right approach to building design, practices, and
material selection.
A Green Built Home does not have to cost more,
in fact homeowners will realize future cost savings through increased
energy efficiency, durability, and less maintenance. Green Built Home
builders are implementing sustainable design practices by utilizing energy
efficient and green practices and products. A Green Built Home is at least
15 percent more energy efficient than a home built to code.
